About

A small IT service, and honest about it.

HJ Digital Solutions is an independent two-person IT support service focused on providing straightforward technical assistance to individuals and small businesses.

Why we started

Most people do not need a managed service provider. They need someone to look at the laptop that will not start, explain what happened in plain English, and fix it without making them feel foolish for asking.

That is the gap we set out to fill. We are deliberately starting small and taking on work we can genuinely do well, rather than presenting ourselves as something larger than we are.

How we work

  • Practical troubleshooting. We work through problems methodically rather than guessing, and we tell you what we found.
  • Clear communication. No jargon unless you want it. If we use a technical term, we will explain what it means.
  • Help for non-technical users. There is no such thing as a stupid question here. Most problems we see are ordinary and fixable.
  • Organised, ticket-based support. Every request is recorded and tracked, so nothing depends on somebody remembering to follow up.

Why it is free

We are not charging at the moment, and the reason is straightforward: we are building genuine helpdesk experience, and that has to be built on real problems belonging to real people. You get your problem sorted. We get the practice. Both sides know exactly what the arrangement is.

That is also why the process is more organised than a two-person operation strictly needs. Ticketing every job, writing up what was done, being explicit about what we will and will not take on — that discipline is the thing we are here to learn, so we do it properly rather than when it suits us.

If we ever start charging we will say so plainly and well in advance, never partway through a job.

Being clear about scale

There are two of us. We are not a 24/7 operations centre and we do not have a cybersecurity division. What we do have is a genuine interest in getting your problem solved properly, and a support process that keeps track of it while we do.

If something falls outside what we can responsibly take on, we will tell you and point you toward the appropriate next step. We would rather give you a straight answer than an expensive detour.

Who we are

The two of us.

When you raise a ticket, one of us picks it up. There is nobody else it could be.

Harry Klair

Co-founder

Harry is a BSc Cyber Security graduate from Nottingham Trent University, currently working toward CompTIA Security+, and is BPSS and SC security-cleared — which matters when you are letting someone connect to your computer.

Most of that study has been hands-on: building detection and monitoring labs, analysing logs, and picking apart phishing emails and malware samples. It is why we are comfortable helping when something looks suspicious in your inbox.

For HJ Digital Solutions, Harry built and looks after the website and the customer-facing side, and works support tickets alongside Justin.

Justin set up the helpdesk itself — the ticket system, the queues and the written procedures that every request runs through, so nothing depends on one of us remembering it.

Day to day, Justin works support tickets alongside Harry.
